An hour ago, Oscar ran into the den and started mumbling something about "Time's a wasting . . . Where to go? . . . and "I miss the Wonder Egg." I heard books thumping onto the floor and pages being turned rapidly. Then he exclaimed, "Eureka, that's IT!" Curious as to what the furkid was up to, I went to the den and found one tired little dog surrounded by a multitude of camping books, maps, and magazines. Oscar quietly said "I found it Pete, I found our next camping site!"
Then his voice trailed off into whispers as he fell fast asleep before informing me of our next destination . . . .

This weekend, Chuck & Scotty followed Oscar & I from San Antonio to Lake Corpus Christi State Park to meet with the Underwoods, Chapmans & Rosins. Here's a photo of the "First Ever Unsanctioned Oliver Caravan"
Saturday Morning, John treated us to a wonderful cowboy breakfast cooked in an authentic cast iron pot "just like the cowboys did it!" - (although I doubt "Festus" ever set his oven on top of an old computer case and used license plates for a windbreak :)
It was so authentic, Chris even used a thermometer "just like the cowboys had" to see if'n it was time to add the cheese. (Sorry, John, I couldn't help myself!)
The finished product was so perfect we all wanted to head out on the range & rustle cattle-
But seeing as we had no horses, we hung around the campsite telling tall tales . . .
Fishin' . . .
And looking sporty . . .
Oscar & I sat out by the Wonder Egg this morning, remembering all the great times we've had this weekend. Jambalaya, cowboy breakfast, tall tales, fishin', pulled pork BBQ, water balloon fights ,outdoor movie shown on a screen tied between trees, etc, etc, etc . . .
Oscar asked for a picture taken with all his friends . . .
Thinking the weekend was just perfect, before we left Oscar shouted "That was lots of fun, Pete, lets do it again!!!!!!!!!"
I am sure we will . . .

Oscar went on-line today and read some of the recent blog entries . . . he discovered I accused him of being a chicken-foo-foo dog that was afraid of alligators and that it was actually a foil for my own weakness. BUSTED!!
He told me he really had a wonderful time at the Collins' household but he missed heading out for adventures and meeting new friends with the Wonder Egg. Here's a picture of him this morning . . . wistfully daydreaming of another outing.
Don't tell him (its a surprise) but we're heading back down to Lake Corpus Christi State Park this weekend! We'll be caravaning down with Chuck and his dog Scottie. (they also have an Oliver trailer) We'll gather again with the Underwoods and their kids and also meet up with Fred & Mary Rosin & John & Chris Chapman. There will be some other furrkids along for Oscar to play with. Should be a blast!
More later as the adventure continues . . .
