Oscar's Trip Prep . . .

Oscar saw I was making lists, grocery shopping, filling the propane tanks, etc. for our upcoming trip to the Gulf Coast Spring Fling and beyond, so he thought he'd do some preparing himself.

After calling the salon and making an appointment, he drove on down for his appointment to be pampered by Jessica, his favorite fur stylist, who took good care of Oscar.

Then he drove to the dog clothier in search of a new tie. When he got home, Oscar strutted all over the house singing romantic love songs for the new ladies he's sure to meet on the road (he is such a ham) and then plopped down on the rug and said "I'm ready Pete! Times a wasting. Let's get outta here!!!!!!!!!!!"

He gets rather impatient when a new adventure approaches . . .

Well now Oscar, I can't read what that tie actually says, but you are SUCH a chick magnet that I'm sure it says something to catch the lady's eye.

While you are at it take Peter to the barber so you can both be men around town!

Oscar, take Pete in for a "high & Tight" regulation cut. Summer will be here before you know it and it will make his boonie hat fit just exactly right !

Hello,
I found a picture of your young vines sporting blue grow tubes on your July 2008 post. May I have your permission to use the pic for an article I'm doing on grow tube use for Suite101? By the way, how did the vines do? Any negatives?

According to Robert Parr, the owner of the vineyard, the vines did well. Overall he found the grow tubes to be a positive. They protect young vines from herbicides as well as freezes.

The only downside is that the clear mylar inner portion of the tube is very reflective and with the right sun angle concentrated light can burn the lower part of the vine. To mitigate this, he removes the tubes after about 1 1/2 months of growth.

Feel free to use the photo and good luck on your Suite101 article!
